Rayna Bonnano is a lifetime dancer whose passion for the art blossomed
from age three at Riley's School of Dance.
Rayna's love of dance led to her graduation from University of the Arts and the Hartford Academy of Arts. Rayna later returned to Riley's School of Dance to teach jazz and tap at age 18.
From there, Rayna ventured to Manhattan where she performed with Fluid
Edge - a modern jazz company and worked with such popular modern artists
as Matthew Barney and Frank Hatchett on a number of performances.
While in Manhattan, Rayna received training in Zumba - a new form of dance
incorporating music with fitness.
"Zumba is an adult fitness class. It's Jazz/Latin fusion. It has a lot of
Latin rhythms but you're dancing all the time so it doesn't feel like a
workout."
Rayna returned home - to Connecticut - to open up her own studio and
hopefully foster the same passion for dance in her students as was
instilled in her.
"I want to share the joy of dance with the children," she said. "I love to
dance. It's an energy inside... It's an expressive way of showing emotion,"
she said. But in addition to instilling good posture and balance, Rayna
believes learning dance can teach her students how to multi-task and how
to incorporate these things into their every-day lives.
Though Rayna's favorite types of dance include Jazz and Tap, she looks forward to bringing Zumba to her
students as well as Ballet and HipHop.
Rayna was raised in Enfield by her parents Ray and Debbie Bonanno, currently
residents in Enfield.
Rayna holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from the University of the Arts, and is a graduate of the Hartford Academy of Arts in Hartford, CT. In addition she has received classical ballet training from the Connecticut Concert Ballet.
Rayna is also a certified Zumba Fitness instructor
